Here's a comprehensive review / assessment of the newly launched Librarie Antoine e-commerce portal - by Fadi Bizri
It's a well made website. There's a lot of information, but I don't feel lost and quickly understand what each part of the site does.
The shopping cart on the top right is clear and standard, so felt comfortable with it. I wasn't able to remove items from my wishlist though.
One comment I would make is that the Antoine logo on the left attracts too much attention, and it makes the central panel feel smaller and cramped even though it's already more than 900px wide.
The synopsis of certain books is also too small. Also, if I am on a page other than the home page, and I move the mouse to the top left to click on AntoineOnline so that I return home, the "books" and "dvd" dropdowns always show and that can be annoying.
Also, some book and DVD images are badly shrunk, and so look grainy or unclear.
Good use of social media. Every entry has Facebook like and a Tweet button, without them being overwhelming.
Finally, I would put the "Most Popular Review" box higher because it's interesting to read.
All in all though, a good website.
Yes, we are 10 years behind Amazon, but this is where they started, so it's a good place to start: Antoine Online you have our support :)
