the greeks were called in to supply ferries for evacuations across the mediterranean.
they were to sail from beirut to cyprus.
many had to leave half empty due to the very limited safety window offered by the israeli military.
any ship sailing outside its safety window was fair game to israeli aircraft and battleships.
this explains why us, uk, french, and other battleships were called in to facilitate further evacuations.
at least those were 'safe' from israeli threats.
