Because if USA said to Israel to stop and to negociate, they would. But Bush is encouraging Israel, and no doubt Israel asked Herr leader Bush for his approbation.
From France, it's very hard to understand how 100 of civilians can be killed each day with the approbation of the rest of the world...Good luck and may god, or the architect or whoever you want, be with you lebanese people.
And another small thing, the U.S is the one tha sends israel over 2.5 billion in milirary and fnancial support. So guess what? those weaponds that are bing used have the U.S name all over it. If I may add, if Israel is the U.S main alled in the middle is how can they attack anohter country knowing that there are U>S citizens there? Because Mr. Bush dont care, they may be U.S citizens, but not his people. He didn't even bother to to rescuepeople in his own country last year when Hurricane Katrina did away with whole citties.
I really do feel for the Lebanese and think that Isreal needs to stop, but the main culprit in this mess is Hezbollah. You can't expect Isreal to sit around and let an unauthorized militia which runs around autonomously on the border. Granted as a resistance group during the Isreali occupation they were legitimate, even by U.N. rules, but the Jews have been gone for 6 years. How comfortable would you be if your neighboring country had an unauthorized armed group at the border instead of its own army?
Did the Isrealis unlawfully occupy in the past? Yes. Do they have innocent people incarserated among the 10,000 Arabs detained? Probably. But why start all this mess again by invading a soverign country and kidnapping and killing soldiers? If they wanted to work on the release of prisoners, why didn't the Lebanese government iniate talks with Olmhert What happened to dialouge? Lebanon has made great strides in its rebuilding since the civil war and its all been destroyed because the government and its citizens allow Hezbollah to do what ever it wants. No one says anything because of Hezbollah's influence and are afraid. They just left well enough alone and look what happened. Its too easy to blame the Jews or the Americans for that matter. My advice to the Lebanese (Christian or Muslim), please try to stay out of harms way while you are under siege and when the violence subsides, start taking your country's affairs in your hands.
I"m sad that knowing the facts you still feel that way. Killing is bad regardlessof whom does it, but t seems that when Israel kills is o.k and must be forgotten, when israel occupied land that still lives on, people must move on. When they use bulldozers to tear dow houses with people inside as they do in Paalenstine,people can just watch when the U.S preasures the U.N to make sure they don't get any weapons to defend themselves we just watch. Try putting yourself in that position. Thank god I don't leave in any of those countries. Best wishes to them........
I'm agree with your opinion based on the facts that both countries should work on the dialogue in order to finish the killing of the civilians, right now, it doesnt matter who is responsable for the situation or who begun first, but it is clear that Lebanon must control the issues of his countrie such as do not let the militia hezbolla to attack the border country Israel, besides that Jews and arabs dont like each other, every country has the right to leave in peace and also has the right to defend itself if it is atacked by other country or militia or whoever.
then in that case hezbala is doing nothing wrong its protecting peoploe who need protection see how you make no sense whats so ever .. try to take a nonbiased stance and stick to it.. if israel can do what its doing then so can anyone else... thats it...
or if you want to take a biased stanced then take it but dont dare say well they cant do it... but we can... just come out and say your true feelings this way we can talk about it. and try to change.. dont hide behind yourself. trying to make yourself sound like something your not. the main culprit is us civiliens doing nothing about this... someone needs to be the parent figure and pull these children apart sit them down and make them talk... dont let children do adults work... and its obvious these governments are acting like children. 6 billion people live on this earth .. lets say 5.9999 billion are people like us i think we could put a stop to it pretty quickly if we wanted to... which makes sense why they arent trying to take the internet apart... best unifying tool we have. now i understand why they try to dumb down the average population...... so thats what those direction are put on shampoo bottles are for... aaaah,
The "parent" figure that you refer to was suppossed to be the United Nations. That is the reason for its creation but no one respects them. Because no one respects them or their resolutions when they are made, that causes other countries to not take it seriously because there are not any reprocussions when the resolutions are not honored. Example, resolution 1559 which stated that Lebanese government must disarm Hezbollah. Has it happened? Did they do it? We all know the answer to that but when the bombing started, they were asking what the U.N. was doing to stop it. Even if their was no veto in the U.N. security council by the U.S., do you think that Israel would have ceased fire? Of course not. why? Because in their eyes, Lebanon and Hezbollah didn't honor the resolution so why should they? I mean, isn't it the same reason the U.S. didn't honor the security council vote to not invade Iraq? Because Hussein constantly ignored U.N. mandates. What does the U.N. do when no one listens to them? Place embargos? That just creates illegal trade (black market) and now you invite criminal enterprise.The poor and the sick suffer.
There are many at fault and the ones who suffer are innocents get bombed in Beruit and attacked by Katuskya rockets in Haifa. If the U.N. can't get it done, perhaps they just need to move out of New York because I am sure Donald Trump can do something more useful with that piece of prime real estate. I would like to get a response from someone in Lebanon if they have the means to give us some insight on the current situation. May God be with you.

What, then, is forgiveness? When someone does something hurtful to us, it is natural to feel anger, to want to strike back, to hurt this person in return. At this point, we become the servant of Anger. Anger rules our life�we become reactive instead of proactive. As I see it, forgiveness is a different response, a spiritual response that requires humility and relinquishment, two qualities that, for me at least, are pretty hard to come by. Pride steps in and says, "I�m not going to take that! No way!" The judge in me comes to the fore and says, "Relinquishment? Ha! You owe me. Pay up." Forgiveness is getting beyond that impulse to judge and punish. It is the healing of your own heart, a softening, in response to pain or injustice. You become no longer willing to keep the power of this hurt and anger alive in your heart.
Well I know that my ancestors were oppressed by the Turks for hundreds of years. Children were taken from their parents, forced to convert, and then trained to become Janisaries and would in turn become brainwashed and then kill their own people. For others, if they didn't convert, they were taxed heavily for it. In the 1920's, hundreds of thousands of Greeks were systematically killed or forced to leave eastern Turkey under Ataturk. In the 50's, Constantinople's ethnic Greek population sufferred tremendously when the Turks destroyed all their businesses and homes while the police and government just watched. In 1974, Cyprus was invaded by the Turks and still occupy the northern one third. 3,000 Cypriots still remain unaccounted for. Cemetaries were ransacked and the deads valuables taken. Only a few years back, a Turkish soldier shot and killed a young man named Solomos Solomou for trying to climb up a flag pole to remove the Turkish flag at the Green Line. Its safe to say that over the last 500 years, millions of Greeks alone were killed by the Turks. Do you see Greeks launching raids and kidnapping people? Do you see the Greek government seek to eliminate Turkey? Do you hear the Greeks preaching to their children that the Turks need to cease to exist? No. We have moved on and that's what the Arab's need to do as well. Israel and the Arab's need to set their difference aside to figure out how to co-exist. Why isn't this happenning? Because of pride. What's ironic is that both groups claim to be pious people but they let pride get in the way. Why the irony? Because pride is the original sin in Chrisitanity, Judiasm, and Islam dating back to Adam and Eve. If you can't step one right, you're going no where. Both sides need to swallow their pride and figure out how their grandchildren will prosper.
For the record, Katrina vicitims were failed by the local government (their mayor and governor) and not Bush. |
