I'm from Poland. I've seen adress of your blog in newspaper's official site, in article about war in Liban. http://wiadomosci.gazeta.pl/wiadomosci/1,53600,3519040.html?skad=rss
It's really sad, that Lebaneses are dying, but TV news shows just ruins of houses and buildings, they don't say anything about victims of war, so most people think that it's not so bad in Liban- couple of ruins, couple of victims... "nothing special"...

Hi,
Your blog is important to me, you have to write it, don't stop! In TV shows us only short informations only when Israel bombing or Hezbollah or civils have died. We really don't know what is situation of Lebaneses people.
I don't understand why world - espetially UE - don't do anything to help of Liban ?! About US ... no comment in my opinion they are the same like Israel.
I'm looking hearing from you here.

read the wikipedia article.
the bombing of dresden had no strategic purpose.
it was only executed to terrorize the germans (not just the nazis).
bombing residential neighborhoods is a war crime as per the geneva conventions.
not a single rocket or missle was fired at israel from beirut.
if you lived in the same building as an 'evil' person. would you accept being murdered along with the 'evil' person?
be careful with your words. they border on condoning war crimes.

Her repetition of these lies gives Israel credibility where it has none and permission to continue killing and stealing wealth of civilians. Who do you think owns these buildings? Lebanese. Israel is destroying their livelihoods under their BS of 'terrorism' and ultimately stealing money from peoples pockets. NOT TO MENTION THE INNOCENT CIVILIANS THAT WERE MURDERED IN THE BOMBING OF THESE RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBOURHOODS! But, they're just collateral damage, right?

I´m Swedish and I do agree with you that a lot of the leaders of the EU are a disgrace and cowards, the meeting in Belgium did not result in a call for immediate cease fire, BUT it did result in an agreement to call for "an immediate end to hostilities".
I´m as frustrated as you, especially since everything takes far too long time!! What´s good is that at least the meeting resulted in this AND, very important that the EU were able to agree and stand united in this decision.
Well Geronimo I just wish with all my heart that this will come to an end soon, because it devestates me to sit here in Sweden and watch the news and the appalling suffering of the Lebanese people!
Sometimes I also wonder if the world leaders listen to us "small" citizens, all the petitions we sign and the letters we write?? But however it´s important not to remain silent, we have to keep making our voices heard!

I agree, this is in no way comparable to the extent of the destruction caused by the carpet bombing of Dresden but I think the analogy is more focused on the targeting of civilian structures with no military or strategic importance.

I'd like to write something that would be true, but it is not so easy. The shit that I see in most of the media makes me vomit. I don't believe in their lies, especially when the statistics are so cruel. Another NEWS, live from the places where dust and blood come one, and another meetings of the powerful politicians who don't give a shit in what they say. People still dying on the streets and in their homes. Everyone is a terrorist. Everyone is suspected. Cease fire and bombing from now on is the same. No fucking regrets. It kills my hope, and many others... I suppose.

Hi i'm an Italian-Lebanese, and i was in Lebanon, a week ago, i was able to evacuate with the italian evacuation on friday....I just wanted to say,of how great this idea was of making this blog, just to make an interaction possible....
I have a lot of family in Lebanon who is trying to get, out...but...you know morethan us from the ptherside of the sea....
I would liek to publish one of the thoughts we've had over these days with my parents, the main thing is that, beside form whois wrong and who is right, we have to just wake up and see, that hundreds and hundreds of people are dying for nothing, hundreds of children have given there lives for a political war... and especially it's a war, that neither the Lebanese people don't deserve. This is other countrie's war, but faught on our lands, a land which deserves peace....

I thought that, having lived through the autrocities of the Holocaust, the Jewish people would be likely to understand the plight of Palestenians for their land, and that the Jewish people would understand that what is needed is compassion, not HATE. Defend yourself, don't bomb innocent people and target ALL the infrastructure. Don't gloat that you have warned people to leave, AFTER, destroying their means for transportation. IF you are religious, you would believe that ALL people are created in God's image...and that all people deserve happiness and security... NOT JUST JEWS!

keep up the good work! Only this kind of information is realiable. TV (mainly in Poland) shows only Jewish propaganda! These two pictures show how "surgical" strikes are made only on "terrorist's" buildings... From what I can see - is it true that half of Hezbollahs are children????? ok - here's the question. How many countries are still in the "coalition of the unwilling" in Iraq?

My guess is many of those same countries are against this war.

Want to put pressure on the U.S. to put pressure on the Israelis? Write to you governments and demand they withdraw support for Iraq and pull their troops out, unless the U.S. agrees to a ceasefire.

I think it's the only way - this has to turn into a total, unmitigated disaster and utter failure of diplomacy for Bush to change course. Best thing I can think of is with draw troops from Iraq. He can't afford that. If the coalition falls apart because of his stance on this issue, the republicans have no hope for reelection and maybe we can get somewhat back to normal here.

Thoughts?

A representative of the lebanese community appealed to him to show more moderation.He went on national tv to say NO CHANCE(sic).
Iam wondering,Julie, if you read Mearsheimer and Walt's book, "the Israel lobby" which you can read on line,it gives a pretty grim picture of how policies concerning the middle east are defined no matter who the president is democrat or rep..You can find it on the London Review Of Books website.
