even though Israel seems to have no intention of allowing humanitarian aid into lebanon (see this link), and even though that in itself is a war crime (as is israel's constant targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure [children, hospitals, schools]), and in light of the fact that we as lebanese are up against a state that condones and encourages war crimes, we have chosen not to give up hope, and to stand together in unity, as one people under one name, the lebanese people.

Beautiful country with equally beautiful people. Hopefully this will end up in the American media. CNN showed your post about all the food being bought and given to refugees. The more people that see these things, the better.
Hey finkployd, do you have an idea about how many people are actually getting assistance via the efforts you showed in the videos?
i.e. I'm trying to visualize how many more of these hangars are needed to help ALL the refugees? Great work. And why are all the guys sporting beards? To blend better? :)
shaving isn't a priority when you've got a humanitarian disaster on your hands. ;)
i know one water drive that reaches 80,000 refugees and expanding.
the food drive shown in a previous post, reaches 1200 refugees. the food packing in this post is limited to the incoming aid, which is about 3 tons. whatever the figures are, there is a MASSIVE need for aid, and volunteer work to help and nourish ~1,000,000 refugees.
By the way, great blog. It's become one of my favorites.
I like the use of multimedia, rather than texts, to tell the story of this chapter of our history. I especially like the "TV" clips that you record... (do you have any video of the Manara lighthouse that's been brought down?) Great work.
I just want to thank ALL the people of Lebanon for restoring my hope that someday there will be peace everywhere in the world.

Peace be with you. You are turning a tragedy into shinning star of pride because of your unity and dedication.
Relief for the displaced and suffering is noble but it is not enough. We all must do everything within our power to establish permanent PEACE in Lebanon so that this bloodshed and destruction with never happen again. Peace to people of good will everywhere.
You're doing a great job finkployd, by demonstrating the use that can be made of all this technology (other than killing people); by demonstrating people can link together, whatever their armies, governments and headquarters are doing.

Thank you so much for playing a big part in the unity of the Lebanese people at these difficult times. We are ALL for Lebanon and all we have is each other. Shame on the Arab leaders for standing by and giving nothing but lip service. They can do a lot more... Saudi can stop this aggression with one phone call to Bush. Afterall, they control over 60% of the energy source in the US. My dear fellow Lebanese... stick together... all we have is each other. Thanks to all for the the support. Hang in there lebanon !! We're with you. All around the world people are praying for you and willing you to get through this latest tragedy. If the romans, ottomans, french and brits couldnt break your spirit I dont like Israel's chances, or Hizbollah's for that matter. Lebanon is an amazing country full of people who know how to rise again. I hope this time the peace will be lasting, and somehow all the suffering and the pain and the grief will not have been in vain.
