This is a nice post but the problem is that no group is willing to accept all the others as equals. The system in Lebanon is built to promote sectarianism. When the President must be a certain religion and the PM of a certain sect and the speak of yet another sect then the system is build on a flawed base. Lebanon needs to remove all these and just have people elected on their plans for the country rather than divisive logic. It is only then that you will be ONE and not MANY different groups.
I am not Lebanese but I'd love to see peace there.
I absolutely love your site! I agree with this post so much and Curious Cat you are right on! However, so many different factors make it almost impossible. There needs to be a real revolution by the people and not in any way in accordance with any political group present in Lebanon. But with more and more young lebanese leaving lebanon (and I am one) all we have done is neglect our country and leave it in the blood stained hands of these corrupt politicians! Unfortunately, it's a catch 22 as one has to earn a living to survive!
Agree with CuriousCat, I am not Lebanese either, but I often go to the country to work with some colleagues there (cultural sector), in fact, I had a ticket for last Friday! I had meetings, a conference, research to do... now nothing! I have been working with Lebanese people for more than 4 years now. I like them, respect them, love them... and fear them as well, sometimes. Please, please, peace for all! Stop this nightmare asap!
